Fruitways is an agri-business that specialises in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.
Reporting to the Packhouse Managers, the successful candidates will be based at our Molteno & Melpack Packhouses in Grabouw.
The position requires a pro-active and well-organized individual, ensuring an effective and efficient packing function by optimizing the use of resources and meeting production objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor effective fruit grading and packing procedures per specific market standards.
- Ensure correct working methods and procedures are adhered to with regards to food safety (BRC and HACCP).
- Report relevant production information to assist management in taking well informed decisions.
- Minimize downtime through effective planning and communication.
- Lead and develop a team of Supervisors.
- Driving continuous improvement practices
- Overseeing supervisors of fruit pack outs and batch balancing
- Dotted-line management of palette intake department, ensuring effective palette intake and stock processes
Requirements:
- Industrial Engineering or similar qualification will be advantageous
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a production environment
- Knowledge and understanding of fruit quality standards, customer specifications and packing machinery
- Intermediate computer literacy – Excel skills, internal production system
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
